Ex-militant killed in Sopore

Sopore, Jan 08: Police on Friday recovered the body of a youth from an orchid in north Kashmir’s Sopore township. Police said the youth was killed by some unidentified gunmen.Station House Officer (SHO), Sopore, Abdul Aziz Qadri said the body was recovered from a nearby orchid. He identified the youth as Bilal Chakroo son of Sultan Chakroo of Gulabad. “He was an ex-militant and was once detained under Public Safety Act,” Qadri said.The SHO said the youth was shot in his head with some weapon having a small range. “He died on the spot.”Qadri said: “We recovered the body, which was lying in the nearby orchid in Batpora. The youth was shot in his head.”He said police has lodged an FIR and started investigations.Police said the youth was working as a painter after completing sentence under the PSA.The family of the youth alleged that some unidentified gunmen picked up Bilal from his house early in the morning and shot him dead in the orchid for reasons unknown.
